The Intro...

There almost wasn't one.

But I decided to set the tone...and take time to honor my ancestors.

Hence the title. The folk tale of John Henry always stuck with me as a kid.

Haunting in fact. Its a cold reflection of a people who no matter the circumstances, always persevered. We've always had to prove our worth, even to our own detriment.

Usually Death. But I digress.

This is more of a reflection of resilience.

Rising to the challenge. Being able to adapt under the most arduous conditions. Embracing the future but honoring the past.

John Henry & many other "ghosts" were inspiration in my life. Miles Davis was another being honored as well i feel. Many more that I haven't mention also.

S/O to my guy Pharuq. He was the 1st one with whom I initially started the conversation in creating this piece. Unfortunately my brotha wasn't able to complete the mission. Its all Love of course.

In his stead, my brotha LA came through super clutch & held me down all the way. Covid-19 be damned!!!
